Studs, Duds and Unlikely Superstars...Depending On Who You Talk To.

Gaby Sanchez is showing everyone what Coach and the Guru knew all along.

Florida Marlins first baseman Gaby Sanchez hit .464 last week adding 2HR 10RBI and a crazy 1.317 OPS to make him one of the standouts of the week. He is a legit source of multiple categories and it seems as though he has started to shine through this season. Between us the Guru and I manage seven fantasy teams (one of which we co-own), and Gaby Ruth is on six of them. The only reason it isn't a clean 7 for 7 is because I snagged him in the 16th round in the Guru's league, the only fantasy circuit in which we are in direct competition.

Keeping with the theme of "Unlikely Superstars" Eric Aybar was able to rake 13 hits this week to go along with his 5 SB out of the oh-so-coveted shortstop position. Melky Cabrera continues to make doubters look silly, as his numbers on the season are .283, 22R, 3HR, 21RBI with 3 steals. These numbers out of the outfield are far better then some of the top tier outfielders who have yet to find their strokes. The list of unlikely heros goes on, reminding us why the games are played, on both the real diamond and the fantasy front. From the pitchers, Jair Jurrjens continues to win games, and Cliff Lee continues to strike batters out at an amazing rate. Anibal Sanchez and Jorge De La Rosa are also surprising some with their ability to miss bats, as both seem to be moving to the safer side of pitchers in 10 team mixed leagues.

3 UP: Curtis Granderson (NYY), Adrian Gonzalez (BOS), Jay Bruce (CIN)

3 DOWN: Jose Tabata (PIT), Starlin Castro (CHC), Troy Tulowitzki (COL)
